Travelling with a Group

There is safety in numbers, and it is always fun to go on an adventure as a group. However, the reality that we are all individuals and can have conflicting interests or personalities is inescapable. This is true whether you would be travelling with family, long time friends or a tour group.

You would not be travelling with a group if you did not share some interests with most of its members. Nonetheless, it is good to open up to each other on what would make the trip a good or bad experience for each other. From that, you can set up a few basic “ground rules” for the duration of your trip.

The trip is not just about one person. Your itinerary should essentially have a good share of what everyone will enjoy as a group. Just be ready to compromise for the benefit of the group. Keep an open mind as you just might discover yourself liking something that you had not thought you would.

Just because you travel as a group does not mean you have to go to every tourist spot together and stay together 24 hours a day. You have a right to some alone time and participate in other activities in the area that your companions would not wish to attend as well. It’s all right to break out in groups, so long as you agree to check in on each other at specific times in a particular place in the interest of safety.
