Dublin

Because of the economic bloom it underwent, this city has metamorphosed from the “dirty aul" Dublin, into the “Celtic Tiger". Ignored by tourists in the past, Dublin now has become a bastion of fusion-cuisine restaurants, trendy coffee shops, and designer boutiques. Like most ancient cities, Dublin is stretched over a river. It is the Liffey River that divides the town into Viking from Celt and Norman from Norse.

Getting Around

Dublin is a public transport friendly city. a taxi fare is reasonable and buses and trams run on a convenient schedule. Dublin has no subway system, but it has the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART). It travels both at ground and elevated leverls and links city-center stations at Connolly Station, Tara Street and Pearse Street. And, of course, if one is intent on absorbing the surroundings at a slow place, walking is also a convenient option.

Things to See

In Dublin, one will find some of the most fascinating handicrafts which are concentrated at the Temple Bar. It serves as the hub of Dublin’s bohemian district and is home to art and music shops, vintage-clothing stores, and unique cafes.

Dublin’s nightlife happens during daylight. As funny as it sounds, this fact is attributed to the city’s long daylights. The sun sets around the time, which bars are already beginning to close. Interesting, though, is how one venue can at ballet one night and a cabaret show the next.

Where to Stay

There is a wide variety of places to stay at in the city. From cozy bed and breakfasts to elegant five star hotels, any tourist can find good deals on accommodation rates. Fun and cheap hostels are plentiful.

TIP

It would cost less to book hotel reservations online. Hotels give their patrons discounts when this is done through their websites.
